10 Things to Do Before Visiting Tampa

Sometimes it is to your benefit to consider some things to prepare for - before visiting an area.  That is true of Tampa, and our guidance to you includes the following 10 things to do:

1 Expect to have a great time

Your expectation and anticipation will bring you the best experience.  Part of this may be for you to search “Tampa things to do” and plan your trip for the adventures and fun that you would like.

2 Figure on a rental car or ride sharing.

If you are a traveler, you already realize how much you will need to use transportation to get around.  Certainly, you can walk, and there is also the Teco Line Streetcar.  Otherwise, in order to get to the beaches or other attractions you will want to have a rental car – or even take advantage of ride sharing.

4 Know your Florida seasons.

he State of Florida identifies three seasons for itself; that is, tourist season (January – May), hurricane season (June – November), and holiday season (November – December).  Each season is unique and as you might expect, the tourist season offers the most variety of things to do during the year.

5 Take the sun seriously.

You can tan very quickly with the abundant sunshine and the proximity to the equator. Or course, that does not mean you don’t need sunscreen – you always want to protect your skin from harmful rays.

6 Take lightening seriously

Some say that Florida is the lightning capital of the world. This can happen at every season and summer sees the most of the storms that would produce lightning.  Be aware that even if you believe you are not close to the storm or lightning, you can be struck.

8 Know how to get out of rip currents

Before you decide to jump in the water, do your research and know about any warnings of rip currents.  If you get caught in one, swim parallel to the shore until you are free from it, then return to shore.

9 Don’t leave food out.

There is a simple and important reason for cleaning up food, not leaving it out and cleaning up crumbs.  The reason is to avoid attracting some bugs you really don’t want to have around like flying cockroaches and fire ants among them.

10 Out-of-state plates

Florida attracts people from different parts of the country. Expect to see license plates from around the country. People from all over love to visit/vacation in Florida.
